Course Overview

The course is designed to explore the role of entrepreneurs in society and the vital position they play in both the domestic and world economy. The content of this course will cover various types from social to technological entrepreneurs. The student will acquire the knowledge necessary to take an idea from creation to business development while working on a business plan throughout the course to gain experience in this area.


Goals & Outcomes

Evaluate what makes some ideas work and others fail from a business standpoint.

Produce and develop a new business plan

Analyze technological trends and what opportunities that may present for start-up development in the future

Acquire conceptual knowledge about entrepreneurship and how that is applied in our modern global economy

Identify strengths and weaknesses in new business ideas.

International Business

Tim Balconi

An experienced professional with an extensive international background. Tim Balconi began working in the Middle East in 2011 on large scale projects in a cross functional management role and returned to the United States in 2016 to become co-founder of the Timarus Group and also establish TD Balconi Consulting, both companies are involved in various sectors of international business. He brings his expertise to the academic side as an Adjunct Professor of International Business at Southern New Hampshire University, as well as developing several international business courses for universities across America. His educational background includes a Master’s Degree in International Management (International MBA) from Portland State University that specialized on Asia-Pacific and a B.S. of Management from Clemson University He was also awarded a Graduate Certificate of Advanced International Affairs at Texas A&M University from the Bush School of Government & Public Service.
